Voice Lessons Designed For You

Before we formalize any arrangement, we will always meet for a free trial lesson and decide how we will work together from there.

Private Voice Lessons

Personalized singing lessons for children (aged 7 and older) and adults, adapted to your voice, level and musical interests. We work on healthy vocal technique, musical development and confidence in a supportive environment. No previous experience is required.

Children can begin lessons from age seven. If your child is younger than 7 and wants to take private singing lessons, we’ll have a trial lesson to see if they are ready. The 30-minute lessons offer a playful and positive introduction to singing, including melody, rhythm, pitch and learning songs.

Lessons take place in my private studio in Baarn, and are available weekly or bi-weekly depending on availability and the student’s goals.

Lesson Rates: These rates apply to private lessons in my studio in Baarn

Children (ages 7 - 17)
30 minutes — €30
45 minutes — €45
60 minutes — €60

A 30-minute lesson is generally the most effective choice for younger children. Sibling or small group lessons under 5 participants can also be arranged at €16,50 per student.

Adults (ages 18 and older)
30 minutes — €35
45 minutes — €55
60 minutes — €70

Adults generally choose weekly lessons of 45 or 60 minutes, allowing enough time for both vocal development and repertoire.

Advanced Vocal Training

Focused training for experienced singers who want to develop their vocal technique, repertoire, interpretation and artistic identity in greater depth. This is a great option for singers who are serious about training towards a potential path in performance.

Lessons will still address breath support, resonance, intonation, diction and musical expression, while helping you apply more technical development directly to your repertoire.

If this path is selected, lesson rates are €55 for 45 minutes, or €70 for 60 minutes.
Ages 13 and older (including adults).

Audition & Performance Coaching

Prepare for an audition, concert or other performance with focused coaching on repertoire, musical and textual interpretation, stage presence, movement and confidence.

You will perform your repertoire as you would in front of an audience, after which we will work together to strengthen both the musical and presentational aspects of your performance.

Coaching sessions generally last 60 to 90 minutes depending on the preparation required. Rates are determined per arrangement. For repertoire requiring piano accompaniment, singers should arrange a pianist or contact me if assistance is needed.

FAQs

Do I need to speak Dutch in our lessons?

1

No, lessons can absolutely be held in English. I am American, and English is my native language. Actually, for students who may be preparing for certain auditions or roles, we might deliberately work in English.

I teach in both Dutch and English, so we will work in whichever language you are most comfortable with.

Do I (or does my child) need to have previous singing experience to take lessons?

2

Not at all! A love of music and an interest in learning how to sing is all you need in order to study with me.

At what age can my child begin taking singing lessons?

3

Children can begin private voice lessons with me from age 7. If your child is younger than 7, we will first arrange a trial lesson to check if they’re truly ready to begin private lessons.

In 30-minute lessons, children will learn foundations of healthy singing, pitch and learning songs in a playful, age-appropriate way.

For adults or more advanced singers aged 13 and over, I generally recommend lessons of 45 or 60 minutes. This gives us enough time to work on both vocal technique and repertoire.

Do you only teach classical voice?

4

My professional background and principal area of expertise is classical music, including Baroque music, art song, opera and oratorio. However, my own love of singing began with Musical Theatre and jazz, and I also enjoy helping students develop within these genres.

We can also work on pop or folk repertoire that suits your individual range and voice type. I am generally not the right specialist for rock, heavy metal, specialist R&B techniques or repertoire requiring sustained heavy belting. My priority is always to select repertoire that suits your voice and can be sung healthily.
